Preliminary After finishing my "Tucson & El Dorado" and "Tanque Verde" trains, I decided that I should start thinking about the Old West Layout itself. I'm not much for planning these things out in my head, so I'm going ahead with a few ideas a step at a time and we'll see how it eventually comes out! I removed a large fabric-covered divider that separated the top and bottom halves of the suitcase. I've left the two clips that held the divider closed, but will probably remove them later. I also removed the fabric "pockets" from each end. I'll leave the interior fabric coating in place if I can. I know that I want a lowlands with a track and an old west town. Some town buildings may be of laser-cut wood, laser-cut brass, or paper. It depends on what I have and what I can find that will work. Surrounding the town will be a second track in the mountains above. I'd like to have a timber trestle (on order from Walthers) for the higher track to cross. I've also got a mine on order from Walthers to go up here. The environment will be more-or-less Arizona Sonoran Desert. The picture at the right shows that, as of 12 September 2008, I need to order some more track. |
