The Valley Landscaping - Red Rocks

I wanted the valley walls to be a rusty red, so I picked up a spray can of Krylon Indooor/Outdoor Ruddy Brown Primer spray paint at WalMart.

I set up a cardboard box out on the porch to contain the over spray and sprayed the valley walls with the primer paint.

The foam required several coats for complete coverage. And then I noticed a couple of odd things.

First, I couldn't seem to get complete coverage - there were spots where the foam continued to show through.

Second, the paint apparently had some effect on the foam, because the junctions between the layers were now very obvious. This may be related to the spots already noted.

Because sedimentary rocks often contain a variety of different rocks, I painted the edges which formed between the layers with the base paint used for the valley landscaping (see the next page.) This produced narrow grayish layers between the red layers.
