Cornfield Kit # 1008

The Cornfield Kit consists of a 5 x 2.25-inch sheet of photo-etched brass. It is divided into ten rows of corn plants, Each plant is around a quarter to three-eighths of an inch tall. A portion of the cornfield is shown to the right. The leaves are to be twisted out of the plane with needle-nose pliers and then painted as desired.

I want to plant a cornfield behind the brothel and blacksmith shop in my Old West layout's town.

The instructions said to use a pair of needle-nosed pliers to twist each stalk of corn to give some dimension to the row, so I bent the frame to expose one row. Then I twisted each stalk as instructed. I added a little Testors Flat Yellow to some Model Master Green Zinc Chromate paint to give what I thought was a more "corn color" and painted the row. This wasn't enough corn for the garden in my Old West layout, so I painted a second row, then twisted each stalk as before. It didn't seem to make any difference whether the stalks were twisted before or after painting.
