Sidewalks

A quick search of the Internet for "sidewalk width" led me to conclude that, in residential areas, 4 feet is the minimum width for sidewalks.  Several sites thought this should be 5 feet.  A better width suggested was 6 feet, with 8 feet the width where there is more use or if pedestrians share the walk with bicycles.

So I have chosen 6 feet as a workable sidewalk width for my layouts which need them (such as my Winter Layout.)  In Z scale, 6 feet is about one-third of an inch or about 8 millimeters.
